Prime has been a B Corp since 2022, and this year the recertification process provided an ideal moment to take stock of all we’ve achieved over the last three years. Our new score of 138.1 represents an 17% increase since we first certified and is reflective of the investment that we’ve made in our team, our business, our relationships and our wider impact on people and planet.
Our commitment to doing the right thing isn’t driven by our B Corp status, in fact the opposite is true. Our established values made us a natural fit in our initial application and our commitment to continuous improvement resulted in a straightforward recertification process.
Our dedication to purpose-led practices has delivered a number of business improvements over the last few years which include but are not limited to:
- Our largest ever investment in staff training
- Established links with local education providers leading to 110 children receiving work experience from Prime staff in the past year
- Removing line management and encouraging increased autonomy and leadership behaviours in our team
- Significant improvements to sustainability and committing to Net Zero emissions by 2030
- Remaining committed to face-to-face community engagement in an industry which increasingly favours digital interactions
- Capturing client feedback and acting on it
- Updating our articles of association to enshrine positive impact on society and the environment in our governance documents
- Leading conversations about system change
Our number one piece of advice for organisations taking on the challenge of B Corp certification or recertification is taking the time to keep records of all the good work you are doing. Keep a log of the hours dedicated to volunteering by your staff, mark your supplier list up with the distance from your base of operations. If you enact good business practice, turn it into a written policy. Having these documents ready to hand will smooth the process for both you and your assessor.
We also recommend tackling the task as a team wherever possible. Our recertification was achieved thanks to the collaboration of people from across the business coming together to talk through the questions, challenge each other to think more broadly and liven up the task with a playful group chat on Teams!
